PSHE and RSE

At Little Heaton C.E. Primary School respectful relationships are fundamental to our ethos and our success in being an inclusive, happy, caring and safe school.  Our Relationships and Sex and Health Education supports our wider work in fostering pupil well-being and developing resilience and character.

We recognise that our pupils need to be provided with an education that prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.

We aim to provide our pupils with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their relationships, including the ability to recognise healthy and respectful relationships.

Relationships and Sex and Health Education (RSHE) is lifelong learning about relationships, emotions, looking after ourselves and our families.  It also creates an opportunity to enable pupils to be taught about positive emotional and mental wellbeing.

RSHE is part of our PSHE curriculum and many aspects of it are covered through the Heart Smart scheme.  Some elements are a statutory part of the Science curriculum such as puberty and life cycles including reproduction.

Please takes some time to look at these documents and  if you have any comments or questions for our review as part of the consultation on the RSHE Policy, please send them via email labelled as 'Confidentional RSHE' to  [email protected] before Friday 9th April 2021, midday. Alternatively if you would like to answer any questions directly there will be opportunity to do this by phone or over Teams on Wednesday 31st  March between 9 and  10 am. Please contact the school office if you would like to be do this.

Any questions or comments around the RSHE Policy and curriculum will be reviewed by myself and the Governors after this date. If there are any amendments made to our Policy as a result of the parent and carer consultation, we will send you the updated policy.
