Internal data shows a comparable picture to this, with disadvantaged children attaining below their peers in all subjects.  Consequently we have reviewed and reallocated how we spend our pupil premium funding.

The main barriers to learning for our pupil premium children are

  1. Pupils who have suffered early trauma and experience ongoing attachment issues
  2. Pupils who have poor oral language skills due to early life experiences
  3. Poor attendance

A number of our pupil premium children are attaining at age related expectation so may not have these barriers to learning.  We recognise that they are still entitled to additional support according to their interests and needs.

How the allocation will be spent

  1. The purchase and implementation of the RWI Phonics programme to boost English skills in the early years and KS1
  2. To fund the role of pastoral worker to improve home/school links and to monitor and improve attendance
  3. To provide emotional support groups for identified children
  4. To fund enrichment activities to support social development and a range of skills
  5. Training for teachers and support staff
